Hey guys,
I'm considering coming up from Tampa Bay for this. Will anybody be hosting some informal games on Saturday any where within 100 miles from the tournament site?
Plus, I'm new to the game and will surely not make it far in the tournament, but will I still be able to play most of the day on Sunday in some form? I'm not sure how the tourney is set up and I'm really just looking to come and learn by playing different players.
Thanks.

Brandon that's great to hear that you're going to play in this tournament. Have you reached out to the tournament organizer (Andrew Zunino) about getting friendlies in? Surely I bet he'd be interested.

Wow, awesome news Brandon!
If you haven't already done so, I would highly recommend getting in touch with Andrew via e-mail. I can PM you his e-mail if needed. Usually for people making a long trip to an event, some effort goes into accomodating them to keep down on costs unless there is a preference for a hotel or something like that.
From Maryland, it looks like Paul Eyes and I are in with Patrick Sheridan being probable. Not sure about the 2nd Gen young players (Byung, Matt, Adolofo, etc) or other Towson people yet. Will work on that soon.
According to Google Maps we are 75 miles from the venue (about hour + 30 depending on Baltimore traffic) in Ellicott City, MD. I remember the drive has taken as little as an hour + 10 min to about 2 hours.
Awesome to hear you are coming though, and we will try and give you lots and lots of games!

The cheapest flight for me is in to Philly. I'll be staying at a Motel 6 in Wilmington, DE, since it's near the tournament and only $40 a night. It's not too far from Philly and Baltimore so if anybody from those areas are able to play on Saturday after 1pm I'd be happy to drive wherever to play. My only plans on Saturday so far is to get a cheesesteak for lunch! Please PM me Andrew's email address. I sent him a PM a few days ago but I haven't heard back yet.

Brandon that is great to hear! Are you on Facebook also? If so, you should join the American Subbuteo Association group. If not, no big deal, just thought I'd check.
You're going to have a blast at the tournament!
Zach

I don't use Facebook personally. I'll be having a page for my photography business shortly but I'm not sure if I'll have full functionality with a business page. If so, I'll join the ASA group though.

Hi, Brandon!
Sorry for the latest for my reply. Glad to hear that you are coming out to the DVO. Since you will be in Wilmington (which is not too far from where I live), we can get together for a few friendlies and grab a bit if you like. Let me know when you can. Take care, Brandon!

Brandon, I figured you would be interested in this. Massimo does a fantastic job with his webpage about the SCC (Subbuteo Club of Connecticut). Here is his write up of last years Delaware tournament. www.sc-connecticut.com/DelawareOpen2011.htmlIf you click on the 11/12 Season, or even some of the older seasons, on the left and open up some of the links with ASA in them (background in black), it corresponds to tournaments and there is usually a write up plus some photos in them.

You are going to have a blast Brandon!
I am quite envious. You will have a great time playing with the gang up there. And just think...I did score a goal on Massimo (actually I think it was the only goal I scored) at Nationals....not that the memory is engrained in my mind....
