www.facebook.com/events/280879885356402/Michigan Subbuteo Table Football Association celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2013. Our first ever tournament took place on October 25th, 2003 at La Cantina. Scott Aldridge of Barrie Ontario beat Marco Silva of Virginia 2-1 in the final. We are hoping by setting this date early, that we will have our best ever turnout for a tournament. Mark the date in your calendars now or whenever you start planning for next October! We'd love to see some of our old friends from all our tournaments over the years. We'll have plenty of play and it will be a special event all round! We have timed the event to fall on an "international break" weekend. As most FIFA World Cup qualifiers take place on Fridays it should be fairly clear for most nations. USA plays Jamaica on the Friday night and then travels to Panama for the final game on the following Tuesday. If you travel into town early enough, we'll watch the USA v Jamaica game at SpeakEZ Lounge. When the USA scores, SpeakEZ pours! Venue is yet to be confirmed.

I have done some flight research for direct to Grand Rapids using Southwest, which has 6 direct flights starting in August and is by far the cheapest option to get to GR directly if you are near either Denver, Orlando, Baltimore/Washington or St Louis.
Out: Fri 11 Oct Back: Sun 13 Oct/Mon 14 Oct
Denver $181 each way (out 5:55pm-10:25pm / back 12:05pm-12:55pm)
Orlando $142 each way (out 9:40am-12:15pm / back 7:45am-10:25am)
Baltimore/Wash $134 each way (out 9:55am-11:35am;3:10pm-4:50pm;8:10pm-9:50pm / back 7:00am-8:35am;12:45pm-2:20pm;5:20-6:55pm)
St Louis $157 each way (out 1:20pm-3:35pm / back 4:05pm-4:25pm)
Promotional fares were recently being offered for September from $109 to $129 if you want to wait for a better deal.
If you arrive or depart on a weekday, you can get downtown by city bus, they run every half an hour. However, hotels nearer the airport are cheaper than downtown if you're weighing up overall costs. There are hotels close to the airport but still reachable by bus at the weekend (near Woodland Mall). We'll be able to arrange some pickups for the tournament or to get you to your hotel depending on arrival/departure time.
For more info I am preparing a tournament visitor guide which will be published shortly. Or drop me a line.

Here's a hot tip for a CHEAPER option for a hotel stay for the tournament weekend. It's about 7-8 miles from downtown and about 5 from the airport, right next to Woodland and Centrepointe Malls so good for the other half to keep the kids busy. If you arrive and depart on a weekday you will have bus transport to/from the airport, it runs every half an hour between 6am and 7pm, then hourly until after 10pm. The hotel is right next to the bus interchange at Woodland Mall, where buses can be caught downtown or to other places of interest in GR. It's a good spot to have a bit of freedom without relying on rides to and from the venue, downtown, etc. There are some chain restaurants close by for food, although we'd recommend exploring the neighbourhoods of East Hills and Eastown or downtown for more local food options, not to mention six breweries on or near bus route 6. You're about a half hour bus ride from downtown, 15 minutes from the airport. A cab from downtown would run around $15-18, from the airport about $10-12. Hawthorn Suites Grand Rapids 2701 East Beltline South East, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 Web: www.booking.com/hotel/us/gatehouse-suites-grand-rapids.en-us.html?checkin=2013-10-12;checkout=2013-10-13Queen Studio $79 for 2 Two-bedroom King Suite $99 for 5(!) would be great to split with friends or a couple you're friendly with

You need to contact the Regional representative. They need to make sure there are no other tournaments on that weekend etc.

Maybe you don't have one??!?
From 2011:
Gentlemen, the BOD is a man short. Since Mitch Morice concluded his mandate and elections were held, the Midwest region's VP post has been vacant as no one stepped up to present his candidacy. Technically that means 13 states without representation. If you live in any of the following states and would like to fill the position or present your candidacy, please reply to this thread or email me at subbuteo (at) sc-connecticut (dot) com:
Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Michigan Minnesota Missouri Nebraska North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma South Dakota Wisconsin

As this is now our next tournament, bumping it with an early sign-up sheet. Eight names already without batting an eyelid. Looking for this to double or possibly triple before the day.
1 Peter Alegi (E.Lansing MI) 2 Marcus Fila (Kentwood MI) 3 Paul Pate (Rockford MI) 4 Nathan Pate (Rockford MI) 5 Mike Ewer (Grand Rapids MI) 6 Tim Tumminaro (Batavia IL) 7 Chris Sweetland (Naperville IL) 8 Brian Lambert (Grand Rapids MI) 9 Thatcher Berends (Holland MI) 10 Chad Idema (Grand Rapids MI)
Edit: 8 up to 10. Avoiding making a new post until the Nationals are done.
