Is anyone else keeping track of the debates regarding FISTF's plans to come up with a new official goalkeeper that must be used at all FISTF sanctioned events? Here is the post on the the International Table Forum about this -> hereI will be sticking with my SportsFigure keeper no matter what FISTF says!

Yeah I've heard it mentioned before, but I have no idea how they could distribute and enforce the new rule if players in a tournament are in agreement that other goalies can be used.

FISTF's original plan was to start using them at the last World Cup. Each player would be given one & told that they would have to use it.
But their plans to mass produce the new keepers has caused them to be repeatedly delayed.
As we do not play many FISTF Satellites, Challenges, etc. in the USA I doubt it will be an issue for us.
What has been most interesting is to read how people have modified, cheating, their keepers.

I agree with you Simon that it really won't be an issue for us. The important thing for us is that we continue to play regularly and to get more people to play this game in an organized fashion. Stupid fights over goalie designs only hurt the growth of the game in my opinion.

The more I read about all the fights going on & the threats of one nation & another to withdraw from FISTF over all this stuff makes me feel that they are becoming increasing irrelevant to expanding the game of Subbuteo outside of Europe.

Why not just have a template of sorts to measure height & width of goalkeepers? I think it would be beneficial & solve any discrepencies. As for us yanks, i say "run whatcha brung". Except for that El Diablo bloke....he can stay in his case.

I couldn't agree more with you Simon. I used to be on the FISTF band-wagon but now realize that while it's fun to go over to Europe and play in their tourneys occasionally, they really do nothing major to help us develop and grow the game here in the USA. Guys like Paul Eyes have done more by himself than the entire FISTF organization have to help grow the game here in the USA. I think we should just stay the course and do what's best for us and us only so long as we can continue to grow. If we keep doing as well as we have, perhaps one day FISTF will come beggging for us to join and get more involved. However, we should only consider joining again if they are willing/actually will adapt to our needs and listen/implement our thoughts and ideas.

Is it time to form the North America Table Football Confederation with Canada & Mexico? Sure, but there are more players in Maryland I believe then there are in Canada and Mexico combined.

El Diablo from Stefan Corda has been sanctioned by F.I.S.T.F., so legal for playing.

I agree with Zach, but there the fights are between equipment producers and players that support this or the other brand involving money interest . Most tournaments and events are sponsored, players reimbursed or paid for playing, here we just pay at our expenses the pleasure of competing in a tournament.
