Just thought I'd share.
Too often I've had a ball go out near the corner and it's been very difficult to determine if it should be a throw in or a corner kick. I was thinking about making some solution for corner flags other than the store bought ones with the large plastic bases. I have no first hand experience with those, but it seems that they are made of a rigid plastic which could be broken or poke you in the wrist if you were playing a fast paced game. I also didn't like the look of the large round bases. I was trying to think of what kind of plastic was stiff enough to stand up straight but pliable enough to yield if a hand swept across the mast. I settled on some plastic bristles from my broom. I cut off a half dozen, sprayed them with white plastic primer and cut up an old vinyl flag I had lying around in my RC car box. A little super glue later and they were ready.
I used my pin vise to put some very small holes in the four corners of my board and used and hobby knife to cut the bottom of the flag posts in a wedge shape. All four fit in snug but are easy to pull out and replace when they are in the way (I ask players to pull them out by the post rather than the flag as they would probably tear off.) Make sure to check out the video to see how pliable they are as to not jab you while you play but strong enough to deflect a ball to one side or the other.
Here is a video of the corner flags in action.

If they have any downside, it would be that figures heading out of bounds on rare occasions will be kept in by a lucky hit off the flag. I would imagine that this would be true with the store bought ones as well, however.
