This is what I was writing the facebook page and wanted to move it here
Who would I need to talk to about setting up a tourney twice a year in Williamsburg va? A gaming group I am apart of (ODMS) hold a gaming convention in Feb and Aug. I play on bringing my table anyways and thought if we would possible get others involved that would be great and make it legit. This is the 4th or 5th year we have done these conventions. Aug 10-12 is the next one. A tourney on the 11th would prob be best. Rooms there are very affordable and if any of you that come from way out of town and would make a vacation out of it you can get the convention rate 3 days before and after at the same rate. We do not have to shoot for this but getting the ball rolling would be nice. Thanks for any assistance.

I usually try to go to the conventions there, but it looks like I will miss Guns of August this year.
I usually drive down for them for the day.
I will be in Menchville this weekend for the Odyssey of the Mind State meet, but I doubt I will have time to flick (I am the team coach).
I am trying to figure out a date for a Virginia tournament in Alexandria hopefully before Nationals. Everything sort of depends on how the kids do this weekend. If they win then unfortunately I have to go to IOWA for the next competition.

John Camarano and I were the ones that were selling sets at the HMGS cons for a while. He dropped out once I started beating him on a regular basis!
The last couple of years have been up in the air, but now that my personal life is settling down I hope to host a few meets again and get WTSL active again. I also hope to finally get a team organized at my daughters' school, but that will probably be next year.

Does this mean I can not do one or that you just would not be able to attend? Would still like to have if allowed. Just need a little help with the formalities. Thanks for any help

You can do one. All you have to do is make sure there is not one on the same day (Not much chance of that) and then post it here so it shows up on the calendar.
Oh, and you have to collect $2 a player for ASA fees. Those get sent to the treasury and are used to pay mainly for trophies at Nationals and the website upkeep.
If you are interested in coming up for Nationals I have plenty of room if you want to stay here (Alexandria). Nationals this year is in Towson and it takes about an hour to get there from here. That way you can play Saturday in the open and Sunday in the team event as well as whatever they set up to play Sunday.

After you finish the tournament you send the results in and they can assign points for rankings. Those are used at tournaments for positions in the draws for play.

Thank you for the invite. We will see how things go. I'm thinking though I might only be able to get up there Friday and leave Sat evening

That would be cool too. Friday is usually the Traveller's Cup for people from out of state, so technically we both would qualify. There is usually food and fun.
Saturday usually starts early and ends before 4, so getting back south is no biggie.
