Just got this email from the other local player Tory Reed. Sounds like there used to be a league here in Denver with 10-12 players and we are going to try and revive it. One of the guys who ran the league owns a gaming store in the area that can host us and attracts lots of gamers/potential players. Excellent!
Just called him and I am sending him my info. He's really into it, thinks it's a great idea! He does a board game night at his store on Mondays and would be totally up for us setting up a once or twice a month event. He had a league a couple of years ago with about 10 players and he is going to start contacting them. He has an Astro Pitch mounted, goals mounted, all of that, so if I take mine out we would have at least 2 to set-up. If we could get a group of 10-12 going that would be really cool. I think this might be the contact we were looking for. We can promote the club and the facebook page (that I am going to set up, probably be better than a Yahoo group) in the store. Nothing like a fan that runs a game store, he can probably help draw in a bunch of players over time. I am going to send him a bunch of links to wet his appetite.

If I ever get out that way I will, but I don't know when that will happen. Kind of a funny story how I became a Rapids fan, as I have no geographical basis for who to follow (8 hours from KC, Columbus, and Chicago) here in Kentucky, but my wife had a training in Colorado Springs one time so I put my 2 year old in the car and drove up to practice (no game that week) and the Rapids front office was awesome. The director of Player personel at the time (John Murphy, who left the club for Ireland later) gave me and my son a tour and took us to the practice field, afterwards the entire team lined up and signed a ball for my son and we've been Rapids fans ever since. I was really impressed at the way they treated fans, although they don't seem to do autograph requests via email like most other teams (my son has a book of autos from other teams), and we've been Rapids fans ever since. We all went to KC to see the Rapids last year, but this year we're going a couple weeks earlier and the Rapids aren't in town.

OH, I forgot, I'm working on my subbuteo table and it's going to be a Rapids themed table.
