I have just discovered Subbuteo from seeing videos online and I'm about to order my first set. Unfortunately, I don't have room for a permanent table so I'm going to have to order a roll up Astropitch and roll up the pitch after each play. My question is for those who also roll up their pitches. Do you just hold the goals to the pitch with your fingers during shots on goal or do you have a method in place to affix the goals to the pitch. I've read where some use double sided tape or velcro to affix their goals. I'm trying to decide how to handle this and would like to know what has worked (or hasn't worked) for others. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have my goals fixed to the pitch. They screw in from the top down and then there are wing nuts under the table for fairly easy removal. We also have a group on Facebook where the users are a little more active - you might want to post your question there as well - search American Subbuteo Association in Facebook to find.

Thanks for replying Brian! Unfortunately, a permanent table is not an option for me so I can't use the wing nut mounted goals that you described. I have to play on the dining room table and then roll up the pitch and put it back in its' tube after playing. I'm trying to see how others who are in the same situation set up their goals, and to find out what works best for people. I'm leaning toward using the velcro approach but I'm afraid that the wear and tear of pulling apart the velcro after each game session may damage my Astropitch, I'm also a little leary of how well the velcro backing will stay attached to the pitch after the pitch is rolled and unrolled a few times.

In your case I would think the Velcro would be the best option for making sure the goals are secure. I would probably put the soft side on the pitch and the other side on the goal. Be sure that whatever goals you order are flat where they attach to the pitch. Mine have the screw permanently attached to the goal bottom edge so would not work for the setup you are describing.
Where are you located? We might be able to set you up with some other players in your area. You can learn lots from these guys. Most everyone is willing to try to teach/help newbies.
Also, where are you planning to order your equipment from?

There are a lot of players in Harftford, CT which in Subbuteo terms isn't that far of a drive from you. You should check out their website at www.sc-connecticut.comHow did you first learn about Subbuteo?
