If I'm reading the FISTF rules correctly, it seems like if it's my ball, I flick a figure and miss the ball but strike another figure, there is a different outcome depending on whether it hits the figure on the way towards the ball or after passing the ball, is that correct? A foul if it's on the way to the ball, a back and change of possession if it's past the ball?

Thanks again for all the answers! It works pretty much the way I thought it would, which points to a pretty well written rule set, it seems, even if there are a few things that could stand a few more examples for clarification.
I'm from Arlington, VA. I remember my best friend having one of the old sets in the early 80s, and we played some even though it sometimes got a little frustrating with the pitch bunching up and the figures falling over. Now I have a daughter who is crazy about soccer and I thought that game I used to play might be fun with her. Searched google, found Tablesoccerusa, the site with your videos, and a few other sites and thought especially with the new equipment we could really have some fun. We've only been able to play a few times over the last month since we got it, but we've had a blast. I recently sprung for a half size pitch because the full size doesn't quite fit on any of our tables, and with her own size and age the smaller setting with fewer players seems to suit her better. We've been trying to play pretty much by the rules, but taking turns for now with defensive flicks, and usually playing 6 field players against 4. Really has been great fun!
She also loves art projects, so we've just started trying to paint a set of our own - we'll see how that goes! Her ultimate goal is to sculpt some hair on the tops of some of them and create her own U8 girls team - not sure how well that will come off...

Awesome! I used to live in Arlington, in Fairlington to be specific. I miss it out there. There is a club of guys in NoVa and DC that are called the WTSL - Washington Tuesday Subbuteo League (no they don't necessarily only play on Tuesday, it's just their name.) They are a great group of guys. You should get in touch with them if you're interested. If you have a Facebook account, they have a group there - www.facebook.com/groups/586378331448587/Great to hear that your daughter is playing as well! Zach
